July 9th meeting

Our July meeting will be Saturday, July 9th, at 1:00 P.M., at Owen’s Beach, located in Pt. Defiance Park in Tacoma. The easiest way to get there is to take the 6th Ave. exit from SR 16 (the freeway to the Narrows Bridge), and follow the signs to North Pearl St., which goes directly into the park (map: http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=5400+N.+Pearl+St&csz=98407&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=). The red star on the map is the main entrance to the park. From there, follow the signs to “Five Mile Drive,” and from there the signs to Owen’s Beach. Janet and Toni will try to be there early enough to secure us a table or two; it is first come, first served on the picnic tables.

What to bring:

1. A picnic lunch; there will NOT be cooking facilities available.

2. Your packed suitcase. We’ll be weighing in your suitcase, and checking that you have everything. There will be prizes, so do come with your suitcase packed.

3. Your passport. Your leaders will collect passports at the meeting, and will bring them to the airport on the 22nd. If you plan on using yours between the 9th and the 22nd, let us know in advance so we can make arrangements.

At the meeting, we will be handing out your polo shirts, lanyards, and name tags.

June meeting report

Our June meeting/field trip was a great success. Thank you to all delegates; you acted in the true spirit of student ambassadors, just as we knew you would. Toni, Janet, and I are all really looking forward to traveling with you this summer! And a special thank you to Kris for letting us change her number, and for knowing it during the count off! You are all exceptional people.

Museum of Glass

It is important that everyone be at the light rail station no later than 1:20. That way we can get on board the 1:30 train, and get to the museum by 2:00. We plan on spending two hours there, so we should be out of the museum by 4:00, and back at the parking garage by 4:30. If delegates and/or families want to visit Freighthouse square to practice souvenir shopping, they would have time to do that. We could even practice "free time" pairing up in groups of four for "practice shopping," but families needing to leave by 4:30 could do so.
