April Journal assignment

For your April journal assignment: select a current event issue relating to your community or way of life. Email Janet (jeidsmoe@harbornet.com) or Charlie (charleshall@yahoo.com) for approval of your selection. Then find two newspaper or magazine articles (print or on-line) on that issue. While on your hometown Homestay, interview one adult on your chosen topic. Collect your thoughts and observations and present them in your Journal.

If you want to earn frequent flier miles for our Trans-Atlantic flights, I strongly suggest you enroll in United Airlines' frequent flier program, or in a program that honors miles on United. April meeting

To save you having to search through the archives to find the information, our April meeting will be at Cottesmore (the same location as last time) this Sunday, the 24th, from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M. Student Ambassador time means you should plan on being there no later than 1:55 P.M. Where is it? Here is a link to a map showing their location:http://maps.yahoo.com/pmaps?csz=Gig+Harbor%2C+WA+98335-1633&state=WA&uzip=98335&ds=n&name=&desc=&ed=5tguw.p_0To3II8BhftmDev8FfmUqVGoAizsfi4pigNQv8D5n9MvbiUIJVDG0Pll7SZac8_mGQ1HsFAHQbOL7N6VZvKxpbwsoadpZr8xZ5dsYw684Q--&zoomin=yes&BFKey=&resize=s&mag=2&trf=0

No scavenger hunt this time. Rather, bring with you a news article regarding news from any of our planned destinations. Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Our June "Meeting"

Our meeting on Saturday, June 25th, won't be a traditional meeting. We're going on a field trip to practice our ambassadorial behavior in public. We'll be visiting the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. First, we'll meet in the large, free, parking garage near the Tacoma Dome, at 424 East 25th St, and take the free light rail train to the museum. We'll end with a stop at Freighthouse Square, so delegates can "practice" souvenir shopping. The only cost is $3.00 per student for the tour of the Museum of Glass.

Here are some links to let you find out a little bit more about where we are going:

The Vatican

As you watch the news about the Pope's funeral this Friday, pay close attention to the scenes of the Vatican City, remembering we will be there in just a few months time!

Mona Lisa's new home

Here is the link to a BBC news website with an article about the Mona Lisa's new home. Worry not; it is just a new location in the Louvre. However, it is also good news, because the new location also provides a better view! Here's the link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/4413303.stm
